A $2,500 Vacuum...seriously?

Yesterday, I made the mistake of answering my door. I know. It was a silly thing to do, right? I don't know what came over me, but I did it. Anyway, at the door were two guys selling Kerby vacuum cleaners. Their pitch was that they were offering a free carpet cleaning, and they made it sound like it was some new type of "dry foam" that they were advertising and selling. They didn't mention anything about a vacuum cleaner at all! So I figured this would take about half an hour, and at the end of their little sales pitch, I would have gotten a free carpet cleaning for my trouble.

Turns out they were selling a vacuum cleaner that costs $2,495! I have never heard of such a thing. I could get a whole team of maids to vacuum my home for a year for less than that! Still, I let the kid go through his demonstration, thinking it could not take all that long, and at the end I would end up with nice clean carpets in my living room.

2 hours, and 3 different guys putting pressure on me, later, they finally finished packing up their ridiculously expensive vacuum and left.

The lesson to be learned here, I think, is that even if you feel bad when you just turn salespeople away at the door, it's still better than letting them in the door. Lesson learned.

It finally feels like fall.

I don't know about you, but I'm so done with the heat of the summer. Don't get me wrong, I love the summer, and this one was the best I've ever had. But it's about time for some cooler weather and lots of College Football.

Now that the College Football season has been in swing for a few weeks, the cooler weather is a very welcome change. I love it when the days are nice and cool, and the nights get downright chilly. Wearing warm, comfortable clothes and sleeping with lots of warm blankets...it's the best. Soon enough the colors will start changing, too. It's just a great time of year.

Why can't it just be easier?

Why is it that it is so easy to make a blog, but so hard to make a decent one, that actually looks good? I can create an amazing looking website or blog on iWeb, but getting it from there to an actual, working blog online is a major pain in the butt.

I wish Google, or someone, would get together with iWeb to make their service compatible with Mac's software. I think the first person who does this will have a lot of new bloggers joining their ranks. It's just a thought, and I guess until it happens, this is the best I can do for now.
